Phish Leads 2025 Rock Hall Fan Vote After First Week

The 2025 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fan vote is officially underway, and Phish is off to a dominant start. In their first-ever nomination, the Vermont jam band has amassed 101,157 votes—far ahead of the competition.

Following them in the rankings:

  • Billy Idol – 58,673 votes
  • Soundgarden – 57,084 votes
  • Cyndi Lauper – 50,308 votes
  • Bad Company – 47,582 votes
  • Joe Cocker – 47,004 votes
  • Chubby Checker – 42,803 votes

The rest of the field includes The Black Crowes (39,184), Mariah Carey (36,876), Outkast (35,563), Oasis (32,445), Joy Division / New Order (31,927), The White Stripes (31,055), and Mana (12,177).

How the Rock Hall Fan Vote Works

Fans can vote for up to seven artists per day until April 21 on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s official website. The total fan vote will count as a single ballot, which will be combined with votes from 1,200 artists, historians, and music industry professionals to determine the 2025 inductees.

What’s Next?

  • The official class of 2025 inductees will be announced in late April.
  • Additional honorees will be named under categories like Musical Influence, Musical Excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award.
  • The induction ceremony will take place in Los Angeles, with venue, date, and ticket details to be announced soon.

Will Phish Hold the Lead?

While Phish is in a strong position early on, past fan vote winners have topped half a million votes by the end of the race. Last year, Dave Matthews Band won with 586,745 votes, and all top five fan vote leaders—including Peter Frampton, Foreigner, Ozzy Osbourne, and Cher—were ultimately inducted.

With three months left to vote, anything can happen. Will Phish maintain their lead? Or will Billy Idol, Soundgarden, or Cyndi Lauper make a late push?
