Rock Hall 2025 Inductees to Be Announced April 27 During American Idol Live Broadcast
The countdown is on. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will announce its 2025 inductees live on April 27, during a special episode of American Idol. With a stacked ballot of first-time and returning nominees, this year’s class is shaping up to be one of the most eclectic and fiercely debated in recent memory.
This year’s nominees include first-timers like Phish, Bad Company, Billy Idol, Joe Cocker, Chubby Checker, OutKast, Mana, and The Black Crowes, alongside returning favorites such as Cyndi Lauper, Mariah Carey, Soundgarden, Oasis, Joy Division / New Order, and The White Stripes.
Phish dominated the fan vote, pulling ahead of the pack early and never looking back. The jam-band titans amassed a commanding lead of nearly 50,000 votes over second-place Bad Company. Rounding out the top seven were Billy Idol, Cyndi Lauper, Joe Cocker, Soundgarden, and Chubby Checker — a clear mix of eras and genres reflecting the Hall’s increasingly broad definition of rock ‘n’ roll.
This year, fans cast more than 2.5 million votes, contributing a single collective ballot that joins over 1,200 votes from artists, music historians, and industry professionals. While topping the fan vote doesn’t guarantee induction, it’s historically a strong indicator — last year, Dave Matthews Band, Peter Frampton, Ozzy Osbourne, Cher, and Foreigner all made it in after dominating fan ballots.
The official induction ceremony will take place this fall in Los Angeles, with exact dates and ticketing details to follow soon after the April 27 reveal.
With anticipation rising, all eyes are now on American Idol to see who will join the pantheon of rock greatness. Will Phish jam their way into the Hall? Will Chubby Checker finally twist his way into immortality? Tune in Sunday, April 27, and get ready to rock.
