AC/DC Fire Up North America With Explosive Minneapolis Tour Opener

Let there be rock — and let there be no doubt: AC/DC are back.

The legendary Aussie rockers tore into their long-awaited Power Up North American tour on Thursday night (April 10) with a thunderous 21-song show at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. It was their first U.S. performance since 2016 and the crowd felt every bit of the nearly decade-long anticipation.

Angus Young, now 70 and still the ultimate school-uniformed showman, duck-walked and shredded his way through the night, proving age is no match for electricity. He led the charge through classics like “Back in Black,” “Thunderstruck,” and “Highway to Hell” with his trademark ferocity.

The show marked a triumphant return for vocalist Brian Johnson, who was sidelined during the last tour due to hearing issues. With a custom in-ear solution, Johnson reclaimed the stage and his signature wail, blasting through new cuts like “Shot in the Dark” and old staples such as “Hells Bells” with spine-tingling precision.

Joining them on stage were Stevie Young (filling the massive shoes of the late Malcolm Young), drummer Matt Laug, and bassist Chris Chaney — the latter two bringing fresh firepower to AC/DC’s ironclad sound.

But make no mistake: this wasn’t a nostalgia trip. It was a full-throttle, high-voltage celebration of resilience. The show paid tribute to the band’s tumultuous last decade — from Malcolm Young’s passing and Phil Rudd’s absence, to the unexpected retirement of Cliff Williams and the drama of Axl Rose stepping in mid-tour back in 2016.

The Power Up tour is both a tribute and a declaration: AC/DC’s fire hasn’t dimmed. From the opening roar of “If You Want Blood (You’ve Got It)” to the cannon-blasting finale of “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You),” the band brought the thunder — and Minneapolis answered with deafening applause.

Catch AC/DC’s Power Up tour as it rolls through the U.S. through May 28, concluding in Cleveland. If the Minneapolis kickoff is any indication, this may be one of their most unforgettable runs yet.
