AC/DC Wraps Power Up Tour With Blazing Cleveland Finale — But Was It Their Last U.S. Show?

AC/DC Close Out U.S. Power Up Tour in Cleveland: A Thunderous Farewell or Just a Pause?

Cleveland, OH — May 28, 2025. The lights went down. The cannons fired. The guitars wailed. And for over two hours, AC/DC gave 50,000 fans every reason to believe that even after 50 years, rock ‘n’ roll isn’t done with them yet.

The North American leg of the Power Up tour concluded with a 21-song set that had Cleveland’s Huntington Bank Field shaking — literally. Highlights included a molten 22-minute version of “Let There Be Rock”, a thunderous “Back in Black”, and a set-closing cannon barrage for “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You).”

The Quiet Comeback That Rocked Stadiums

After nearly a decade of uncertainty, lineup changes, and even death, the fact that AC/DC are touring at all is a minor miracle. Following Malcolm Young’s passing, Phil Rudd’s legal issues, and Brian Johnson’s hearing struggles, fans were unsure whether Power Up — released in 2020 — would ever be heard live.

Fast forward to 2023’s Power Trip festival, where the band made a surprise one-off return. That show set the stage for this spring’s 13-date North American run, anchored by Angus Young, Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams, Stevie Young, Matt Laug and new bassist Chris Chaney.

Are We Saying Goodbye?

That’s the question now echoing across stadium parking lots and fan forums alike. With a European leg set to begin next month, the band hasn’t confirmed whether this marks their last North American bow. In typical fashion, they’ve remained tight-lipped, with Johnson famously dodging future plans in interviews: “If I say one thing, it’ll be blown out of all proportion.”

There are also lingering mysteries. Why hasn’t Phil Rudd returned to the stage despite playing on Power Up? Will the band ever record again? And could this finally be the end of the road for the thunder from Down Under?

Still Unstoppable

Despite the questions, AC/DC’s Cleveland show gave no signs of slowing. Johnson, at 77, sounded grizzled but commanding. Angus Young, now 70, shredded with demonic precision, stealing the show with his signature duck-walk and sweat-soaked solos. The rhythm section — Laug, Chaney, and Stevie Young — held down the thunder with pinpoint punch.

And the fans? A sea of raised fists, devil horns, and cannon smoke, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with decades of memories.
