Cyndi Lauper Gratefully Rocks Her Way Into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
It’s finally happening — Cyndi Lauper, the fearless trailblazer behind some of the most iconic anthems of the ’80s, is now an official Rock & Roll Hall of Famer. The announcement sent waves across social media, and Lauper wasted no time sharing her excitement and heartfelt gratitude.
“I’m humbled to be in the company of so many of my heroes — Aretha, Tina, Chaka, Joni, Wanda, to name just a few,” Lauper wrote in a touching post. “Women have made so many important contributions to music and to rock n roll and a win for one of us is a win for all of us.”
Lauper’s fans, who’ve stood by her through decades of groundbreaking music and activism, were a major part of her celebration. She took a moment to thank the voting members and gave a special shout-out to Bad Company — hilariously noting that the first song she ever sang as a lead singer was one of theirs.
After becoming eligible in 2009 and missing out on her first nomination in 2023, Lauper’s second appearance on the ballot turned into a victorious moment. She’s long been a firm believer in the spirit of rock ’n’ roll activism, saying, “I always felt that rock ’n’ roll could save the world.”
While this honor is massive, Lauper remains grounded, insisting that no award could ever replace the importance of continuing her work as an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and women’s health issues — causes she’s fiercely supported throughout her career.
Adding a poetic note to the moment, Lauper is currently on her farewell tour, crisscrossing the country with dates that wrap up August 30 at the Hollywood Bowl. And fans can expect to see her back in Los Angeles on November 8 for the Rock Hall induction ceremony at the Peacock Theatre — a full-circle moment for a career built on pure heart, guts, and undeniable rock spirit.
