Dave Navarro Says Jane’s Addiction Is Over After Perry Farrell Onstage Altercation

The long-awaited Jane’s Addiction reunion is officially dead — and according to Dave Navarro, it ended in one of the worst moments of his career.

Speaking candidly to Guitar Player, Navarro confirmed what many fans feared after the band’s infamous September 13, 2024, performance in Boston. During the show — which featured the classic lineup performing together for the first time in over 14 years — frontman Perry Farrell reportedly assaulted Navarro onstage, abruptly halting the concert and sending shockwaves through the music world.

“There was an altercation onstage,” Navarro said, “and all the hard work and dedication and writing and hours in the studio… it all came to a screeching halt and forever destroyed the band’s life.”

While Navarro avoided naming names directly, his comments leave little ambiguity. “There’s no chance for the band to ever play together again,” he stated, emphasizing that the emotional wounds are still raw.

The breakdown came after what Navarro described as an otherwise revitalizing tour. “Some of my favorite Jane’s Addiction gigs of all time happened during that tour,” he recalled, noting how the band had been “getting along… really, for the first time” since their early days. “There was no ego issue; it was just four guys making great music.”

The Boston show shattered that harmony. Though the band had been in sync during European dates earlier in 2024, the violent end to their North American trek appears to have not only fractured relationships — it terminated any hope of future performances.

Farrell has not yet publicly addressed the incident in detail, though previous reports have referred to him as a “crazed beast” in the moments following the onstage outburst.

As of now, Jane’s Addiction’s volatile legacy — marked by breakups, reunions, and chaos — appears to have reached its final chapter.
