GREEN DAY Gets Immortalized: Hollywood Walk Of Fame Star Ceremony Set for May 1

Punk rock royalty is getting its day in the L.A. sun. GREEN DAY — the irreverent, genre-defining trio that reshaped the sound of modern punk — will officially receive a star on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, May 1 at 11:30 a.m. PT.

The star-studded ceremony will take place at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, near the beloved Amoeba Music, and promises more than just speeches and snapshots. With tennis icon Serena Williams and actor/producer Ryan Reynolds stepping up to the mic to pay tribute, this is set to be a rock ‘n’ roll moment to remember. Longtime alt-rock champion and media personality Matt Pinfield will serve as master of ceremonies.

Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame, praised the band’s legacy: “GREEN DAY’s music has not only inspired generations but also served as the soundtrack to our lives.” And she’s not wrong. From the explosive angst of Dookie to the politically charged masterpiece American Idiot, GREEN DAY has been anthemic for more than three decades.

Since forming in 1986 in Berkeley, California, the trio — Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool — has sold over 75 million records worldwide and snagged five Grammy Awards. Their discography includes 14 studio albums, including the critically acclaimed Saviors released in early 2024. That latest record shot to No. 1 across seven Billboard charts and fueled the sold-out Saviors Tour, their biggest tour to date.

Beyond the charts and accolades, GREEN DAY has always stood as a voice of rebellion, energy, and raw honesty — a spirit that earned them a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. Now, with a star on Hollywood Boulevard, their legacy is officially set in stone.

Fans can catch the ceremony live-streamed on the official Walk of Fame website. Whether you grew up screaming along to “Basket Case” or only recently discovered the fire of “The American Dream Is Killing Me,” one thing’s clear: GREEN DAY is still very much at the heart of rock history.
