In a collaboration that no one saw coming but everyone needed, rock titans Motley Crue and country royalty Dolly Parton have teamed up to breathe new life into the Crue’s classic ballad ‘Home Sweet Home’. Dubbed the ‘Dolly Crue’ version, this reimagined track is already making waves in both the rock and country music scenes.
The new rendition features Dolly Parton seamlessly weaving her vocal magic into the fabric of Motley Crue’s original 1985 hit. Parton takes center stage in the second verse, adding her signature charm and powerhouse vocals, while echoing and riffing off Vince Neil’s parts throughout the song. Even the iconic guitar solo, which defined the original, is now interspersed with Parton’s fresh vocal additions and repeated choruses, creating a version that’s both familiar and refreshingly new.
This collaborative effort is set to feature on Motley Crue’s upcoming greatest hits compilation, ‘From the Beginning’, slated for release on September 19. This marks the band’s ninth career-spanning compilation, aligning with the number of their original studio albums.
Motley Crue has a history of reinventing ‘Home Sweet Home’. They’ve previously remixed the track for their 1991 compilation ‘Decade of Decadence 81-91’, and collaborated with the late Chester Bennington of Linkin Park in 2005, as well as country artist Justin Moore in 2014. Each rendition brings a unique flavor, but this latest version with Dolly Parton might just be the most unexpected twist yet.
Though Motley Crue is taking a break during most of the summer, they are set to return with a bang in Las Vegas for a 10-show residency at Park MGM, starting September 12 and wrapping up on October 3. This residency was pushed from its original March and April dates due to Vince Neil undergoing a medical procedure.
Moreover, fans can look forward to seeing Motley Crue reunite with Def Leppard for the ‘Rock the Tides’ weekend concert event in November on Mexico’s picturesque Riviera Maya.
