The Prince of Darkness is letting fans in on his most personal battle yet. Paramount+ has announced No Escape From Now, a raw and revealing documentary that follows Ozzy Osbourne’s turbulent journey through serious health setbacks, including his struggle with Parkinson’s disease and the aftermath of a life-altering fall in 2019.
Slated for release later this year, the feature-length film promises to be an unfiltered look at the highs and lows of the legendary Black Sabbath frontman. Directed by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Tania Alexander (Gogglebox), the doc started rolling in 2022 during the making of Ozzy’s Patient Number 9 album and continues through what is set to be his final performance—an emotional farewell at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5.
“The last six years have been full of some of the worst times I’ve been through,” Ozzy admits. “There were moments I thought my number was up. But music saved me.”
The documentary will feature candid interviews with Ozzy’s closest allies, including his wife and manager Sharon Osbourne, children Jack and Kelly Osbourne, and fellow rock icons such as Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses), Robert Trujillo (Metallica), Billy Idol, and Maynard James Keenan (Tool). Longtime collaborators like Zakk Wylde and producer Andrew Watt will also share their experiences of working with Ozzy through these difficult years.
Sharon Osbourne describes the film as a brutally honest account of her husband’s reality. “It’s about the courage he has shown while dealing with these health battles. We hope it inspires others facing similar struggles.”
Produced in collaboration with Echo Velvet, the Osbournes, and MTV Entertainment Studios, No Escape From Now aims to show a side of Ozzy rarely seen by fans—the vulnerable, yet still fiercely determined, man behind the larger-than-life rock persona.
With a career spanning over five decades, Osbourne’s impact on heavy metal is undeniable. While his days of worldwide tours may be behind him, this documentary serves as both a testament to his resilience and a heartfelt goodbye to the fans who have stood by him through it all.
