Peter Criss Roars Back: Kiss Legend Announces First Solo Album in 18 Years
The Catman is back behind the kit — and the mic. Legendary Kiss drummer Peter Criss has officially announced his first solo album in nearly two decades, sending shockwaves through the rock world and stirring the hearts of the Kiss Army.
In a heartfelt video posted to the KissFAQ website, Criss shared the news personally: “I have an announcement. I have my new rock and roll album coming out to you, Kiss Army guys, this fall. I really hope you like it, man. God bless each and every one of you.”
Backing up Criss’ announcement, Kiss historian Julian Gill offered juicy details about the project. “This is a hard rock kick-ass album,” Gill confirmed, highlighting the production work of Barry Pointer — known for collaborations with Ozzy Osbourne, Marilyn Manson, and John 5. Speaking of John 5, the guitar wizard himself also lends his legendary chops to the album, alongside powerhouse bassist Billy Sheehan and the iconic keyboardist Paul Shaffer.
Gill, who had the honor of previewing the record at Criss’ studio, raved about what fans can expect: “It was vibrant and powerful. Peter’s drum sound is absolutely massive, his vocals are strong, and Barry Pointer’s production work is stunning.”
This new album marks Criss’ first major release since One for All in 2007. Since retiring from touring after a 2017 farewell performance at The Cutting Room in New York City, many thought Criss had closed the book on new music. Clearly, he had other plans — and it sounds like this will be a record Kiss fans won’t want to miss.
With a lineup of world-class musicians, a producer with a heavyweight résumé, and Peter Criss’ unmistakable spirit at its core, this upcoming album promises to be a triumphant return for one of rock’s most iconic figures.
Keep your cat eyes peeled for more updates — and get ready for Peter Criss to rock your world once again this fall.
