Here Comes the Fab Four: Sam Mendes’ Beatles Biopic Saga Premieres April 2028
Get ready, Beatlemaniacs—the story of the world’s most iconic band is about to be told like never before. Acclaimed director Sam Mendes has officially announced The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, an unprecedented biopic series hitting theaters over four consecutive weekends in April 2028.
Each of the four standalone films will spotlight one member of the Fab Four—John, Paul, George, and Ringo—offering fans a deep dive into the personal journeys, triumphs, and inner struggles of the men who changed music forever. The films promise a revolutionary approach, reshaping how musical legends are portrayed on screen.
“We’re not making a TV series. This is cinema, and it should be experienced that way,” Mendes explained. “There had to be a way to tell the epic story for a new generation—and I think we’ve found it.”
The cast is equally headline-worthy:
- Harris Dickinson as John Lennon
- Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney
- Joseph Quinn as George Harrison
- Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr
Together, they bring a new energy to these legendary personas, and early glimpses from the first official cast photo already have fans buzzing.
Sony Pictures boss Tom Rothman called the project “the first bingeable moment in cinema,” likening the massive undertaking to an event that will dominate the cultural conversation. “We are going to own April 2028,” he declared, joking about the film’s ambitious production schedule: “I’m getting Avatar flashbacks!”
The production is expected to take over a year to complete and will dive into uncharted territory, promising untold stories even lifelong fans haven’t heard.
With Mendes at the helm (known for American Beauty, Skyfall, and 1917), and with the blessing of the Beatles’ estates, The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event is shaping up to be an emotional, immersive tribute to four young men from Liverpool who became larger than life.
Mark your calendars. The Beatles are back—on the big screen, bigger than ever.
