The Speaker Wars Drop Soulful New Single “The Forgiveness Tree” Ahead of Debut Album
The Speaker Wars — the powerful new project from former Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers drummer Stan Lynch and guitarist/vocalist Jon Christopher Davis — have unveiled their stirring new single, “The Forgiveness Tree”. This introspective track will appear on their highly anticipated self-titled debut album, set to release on May 30.
Rounding out the band’s sound are Jay Michael Smith on guitar, Brian Patterson on bass, Steve Ritter on percussion, and Jay Brown on keyboards, delivering a rich and emotionally charged listening experience. Stan Lynch described “The Forgiveness Tree” as a song that “had legs from the start,” calling it “a roadmap to healing” and “the truth” in a heartfelt press statement.
Jon Christopher Davis revealed that the song began with a simple chorus he had tucked away. Sitting at Lynch’s piano, inspiration struck quickly. “He immediately knew where I was trying to go,” Davis said. “Two hours later, the song was finished. The end result is a soul scratcher.”
Lynch and Davis’s musical journey dates back to the early 2000s when their chemistry evolved into a powerful songwriting partnership. Lynch fondly recalled advice from Tom Petty himself: “If we leave all the shitty stuff out, we’ll probably be stuck with something pretty good.” That ethos clearly shines through on this deeply emotional new single.
Fans can now stream “The Forgiveness Tree” and check out the full track listing for The Speaker Wars. With songs like “Taste of Heaven,” “Leave Him,” and “Sit With My Soul,” the album promises to deliver a blend of heartfelt storytelling and raw, classic rock energy.
As the Speaker Wars continue to carve out their unique place in rock history, “The Forgiveness Tree” serves as a perfect introduction to the soul and spirit behind their music.
