The Who Launches ‘This Song Is Over’ Farewell Tour: One Final Bow Across North America

May 9, 2025 | Interesting News

After nearly six decades of smashing guitars and shaking stadiums, The Who are ready to bring down the curtain with their final North American tour, aptly named This Song Is Over. The legendary British rockers will hit 16 cities across the U.S. and Canada starting August 16 in Sunrise, Florida, and wrapping up September 28 in Las Vegas.

Named after a deep cut from the 1971 album Who’s Next, the tour is more than just a series of concerts—it’s a swan song. Pete Townshend, ever the thoughtful rocker, shared his sentiment: “It is a poignant time… Roger and I are in a good place, despite our age, eager to throw our weight behind this fond farewell to all our faithful fans.”

Roger Daltrey echoed the emotion: “America has always been great. It’s not easy to end the big part of my life that touring with The Who has been.”

The Who have always had a complicated relationship with farewells. Their first “final” tour dates back to 1982. Yet here we are in 2025, and despite lineup changes and the passing of bassist John Entwistle in 2002, Townshend and Daltrey kept the flame alive with tours and two new studio albums—Endless Wire (2006) and Who (2019).

This new farewell feels more definitive. Last year, Townshend candidly told The New York Times, “It feels to me like there’s one thing The Who can do—and that’s a final tour where we play every territory in the world and then crawl off to die.” Whether brutally honest or poetically dramatic, it underscores the gravity of this moment.

Fans old and new won’t want to miss this. From classics like “Baba O’Riley” and “My Generation” to the final strums of “Love, Reign o’er Me,” this tour is set to be an unforgettable closing chapter.

Tickets go on sale May 13 via the band’s official website. Expect high demand—after all, this time, The Who just might mean it.
